Lady Ruth Ritter Camellia
Lady Ruth Ritter Camellia
Acrylic on Canvas
24" X 18"

The camellia that inspired this painting was propagated by my brother Chuck Ritter and named in honor of our mother, christened "Ruth" by her parents, then "Lady Ruth" by her grandmother, and later marrying our father Clovis Ritter. On April 15, 2017, Mom passed away after 104 beautiful years. She had lost most of her eyesight when this painting was completed, but it's large enough that she could make it out. She paid for the canvas, paint, brushes, I contributed the brushwork, and we presented the painting to Chuck and his wife Bev as a joint present for their 2016 birthdays (his July 18, hers July 21).
