Donated to the 2019 Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Thursday, May 2, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church.
Tribute to Ruth Abrams (1912-1986), who devoted an impressive body of work to such problems as visual perspective and the tech-nique of action painting in relation to cosmic space. Her outer-space paintings include ''There Are Unknown Elements in the Universe as Old as Mankind.'' "Microcosms," from the 1950s-1970s, are each as small as two by three inches, which paradoxically explore notions of infinite space.
Filmmaker, painter, and teacher Ruth Abrams was a painter of the New York School. As early as the 1940s she exhibited at the American Contemp-orary Art Gallery along with Hans Hofmann, Rice Pererira and Giorgio Cavallon and remained closely associated with Abstract Expressionists.
