Ehrenhalt's Artist Statement: My work is abstract expressionist, unexpected, radiating energy. I try to create that which does not sleep, but rather looks constantly in motion."
Amaranth Roslyn Ehrenhalt (b. 1928) lived in New York City during the heyday of the New York School, left for a 3-week visit to Paris in the mid-’50s, and stayed for more than 30 years. Her storied life there included traveling in Morocco and Tunisia with Friedensreich Hundertwasser, enjoying the patronage of Sonia Delaunay, and exhibiting alongside expatriate contemporaries such as Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell and Shirley Jaffe. She moved back to New York in 2008.
